Spring has always been my favorite season in Hutchinson, MN. It starts with the Crow River opening up, the beautiful spring flowers begin to bloom, and the trees start to bud out. Along with all of nature’s signs of spring, the real estate market also begins to come alive.
We are seeing many home buyers making decisions about purchasing their new homes and are getting good prices on these homes. The relatively low interest rates also make the home buying decision a good one at this time.
Even though the prices are not as strong for the sellers, they are happy that homes are selling. There seems to be more confidence in the overall economy.
So, I’m happy to report that there are New Signs of Spring.
Today more than ever, it’s important for a real estate agent to be able to “think outside the box.” We are unable to rely on what has always been done, but instead figure out solutions for today’s challenges.
This creativity is necessary working with buyers and sellers who may have experienced some sort of financial hardship.
Recently I was involved in a real estate transaction where the buyer had some past financial issues, but didn’t want to continue throwing their money away in rent.
We came up with a way for them to get financing so that they could purchase a home here in Hutchinson, MN. Their banker was happy, the seller was happy, and the buyer was happy!
A couple of weeks ago I got a call from a young lady who said that she and her fiance wanted to get together with me. They want to purchase their first home here in Hutchinson, MN before summer.
While visiting with her, I learned that her parents had purchased the land they built their home on many years ago from me.
Then when I asked who her fiance was, I learned that he was the son of some friends and past clients of mine. I think he was about 12 when I last worked with their family!!
Somehow the years just fly by, but it is so rewarding when I have the opportunity to work with generations of families and help them with their real estate needs.
I knew it had been a while since I had last wrote here, but I didn’t realize it had been August! Well, I know where much of the time was spent.
We saw a significant increase in housing activity at Hometown Realty during the months of August, September, and October. People seemed to gain some confidence in their jobs and the general economy here in the Hutchinson, MN area. A number of people who sold and purchased homes in the last few months have jobs at 3M, Hutchinson Technology, Hutchinson Community Hospital, etc.
One of the primary buying reasons that I heard was the fact that the interest rates were so low, that they knew if they were going to make a move it was definitely time to do so. They understood that they may not have a more advantageous time to be purchasing a home than right now.
As we move into the fall and winter I hope that people will continue to realize that housing prices are very good (for buyers) and coupled with the low interest rates, it makes their dreams of home ownership so reachable.
I rarely watch the news, but earlier this week, I turned it on. Much to my dismay, I sat there listening to one of the news anchors talking about how bad the real estate market is and how much worse it will get when the tax credit stimulus is over at the end of next month!
I thought, “are you kidding?” First of all the real estate market (here in Hutchinson, MN) is so much better than it has been for the last couple of years, and the tax credit stimulus ended on April 30, 2010! (Anyone expecting to participate in the tax credit needed to be entered into a purchase agreement by 4/30/10.)
So, in a matter of a few minutes, I remembered why I don’t watch the news. The information they are giving isn’t always correct!
